Position: Bilingual Bereavement Service Coordinator, 0.80 FTELocation: All Hospice Care Ottawa (HCO) locationsCompensation: $48,000 per annumExpected Start Date: May 4, 2026Closing Date: March 27, 2026This posting is intended to fill a vacant positionPosition Summary:The Bilingual Bereavement Services Coordinator, as a member of our Family Support Team will implement and support high quality grief and bereavement programs to meet the identified needs of HCO clients and community. This position works with a team of volunteers to administer Grief and Bereavement Services. Working with an interdisciplinary team, the Bilingual Bereavement Services Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, coordination and all reporting pertaining to the provision of grief and bereavement support services for individuals and families.Key Responsibilities:? Organize bereavement services based on HCO?s and the community?s needs and identify areas to expand services ? Provide intake and assessment for referrals ? Work collaboratively with the Family Support Counsellors to identify appropriate clients for support groups? Coordinate and direct all Grief and Bereavement Service programs ? Facilitate peer support bereavement groups and workshops, both in person and virtually ? Manage client files, conduct program analysis, evaluation and planning? Organize the annual Shine a Light of Remembrance program, and other memorial events as required? Represent Hospice Care Ottawa in the community at presentations, meetings? Involvement with community organizations and partners, e.g. Hospice Palliative Care Ontario Grief and Bereavement Interest Group? Manage and provide support to a team of Grief and Bereavement Volunteers? Conduct training and on-going education ? Organize and conduct quarterly meetingsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities? Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), Social Service Worker diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience; registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or equivalent professional designation is considered an asset. Experience in bereavement and/or palliative care is preferred. At least 1 year of experience working in the field of palliative care and in grief and bereavement ? Experience in group facilitation ? Experience in Client intake processes and data collection? Experience in volunteer management and support ? Previous experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset ? Experience working with a culturally diverse audience is an asset? Understanding and demonstration of Ethics as they relate to Palliative Care, grief and bereavement? Understanding of the special needs of individuals living with life-limiting illness, their family caregivers and the bereaved ? Knowledge of hospice/palliative care philosophy, traumatic death, grief and bereavement? Knowledge of current trends, information and resources related to mental health & grief and bereavement? Demonstrates compassion, empathy, integrity, respect, courtesy and a caring attitude in all interactions ? Possess the organizational skills to efficiently and successfully handle multiple tasks and competing priorities? Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary environment ? Possess exceptional listening skills? Skilled in public speaking and group facilitation? Strong computer skills in Microsoft and experience in InfoAnywhere or similar medical software? Bilingualism in both official languages is essential? Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends when needed? Ability to travel within the Ottawa areaSupport for Success: ? Regular team meetings ?
